Italy: Lorenzo de Medici Summer in Florence
Lorenzo de Medici (LdM) Florence is situated in the heart of Tuscany, a region that alone has more classified historical monuments than any other country in the world. This makes LdM Florence the ideal choice for those interested in studying the humanities, creative arts, design and of course Italian language and culture.
As the birthplace of modern humanism, naturalistic arts and scientific inquiry, Florence is celebrated as the cradle of the Italian Renaissance, the place where Dante, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Machiavelli and Galileo Galilei changed forever the way we see the world. For centuries travelers and admirers of the arts and culture have fallen in love with both the city and its enchanting countryside. While recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site for its unique monuments and architecture, modern era Florence has become the epitome of a global city, reflecting the world’s diverse cultures, ethnicities, ideas, and forms of creativity yet while remaining faithful to its strong artistic tradition. LdM Florence is located in the San Lorenzo neighborhood, right in the heart of the city.
LdM Florence offers students a wide variety of courses to choose from for their studies in Florence during the summer. Students can choose from over 400 courses, all of which are taught in English, except for Italian language classes. Students typically take between 3-6 credits per session. Some of the other available academic areas available during the summer include, but are not limited to:
Archaeology and Classical Studies
Italian Language and Culture
