Program Description:

Dr Rosefsky

“Mutual understanding of cultural differences and fluency in other languages are necessary to promote peace.”

The vision of the late Dr. Israel Rosefsky, LDH '97, was that tomorrow's leaders in world peace initiative and the diplomatic community need to experiences different cultures to be effective in fields like diplomacy or international relations and to make meaningful contributions to the cause of world peace and community service.

Dr. Israel J. Rosefsky, a Binghamton-area pediatrician, artist, and philanthropist, established this scholarship because he believed that providing opportunities for undergraduate students to experience different cultures by living and learning in non-English speaking countries would in turn enhance cultural awareness and diplomatic potential.

More than 360 Binghamton University students have expanded their world view as recipients of the Dr. Israel J. Rosefsky Language and Culture Scholarship since it was established in 1988.
